How to Calculate Shift Length
A simple guide to finding the total length of a work shift, including overnight shifts.
To calculate shift length, subtract the start time from the end time. If the shift crosses midnight, treat the end time as part of the next day.
For example, a 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM shift is 8 hours. An unpaid break would reduce the paid total.
